This will hopefully become a community site for local and visiting divers to Northern Ireland and act as a resource fro everyone. If any interest is shown I may allow other people to post!
UPDATE: It has been a few months since this site launched. unfortunately there has not been much interest, and therefore there are no additional contributors, no-one has added any favourite dive-sites, so for now it will just have some of my own diving exploits. Hopefully it will still provide useful resources for other divers and of course if the interest increases so to will the info and resources and contributions.
Please feel free to leave comments or request to be added as a contributor. Eventually we may be able to forge a wee community together.

The Imaging Foundation has a great opportunity that a group like this might be interested in. “IF” is a nonprofit organization focused on diving and teaching about the underwater world.
I am a new diver, and I just joined one of their expeditions. I learned a lot, had a great time and I really feel I gave something back. I will join them again as soon as I can
As Art Director of “Alert Diver” magazine, I have seen a lot of dive trips and adventures described in the pages of our publication, but I do not think anyone is doing what these guys do. Professional photographers and videographers lead groups of volunteers on location and gather materials that are later used to help teachers, students and other nonprofits. Volunteers are often able to deduct the cost of their trip. This systems works very similar to the Earthwatch model that has been existence for years.
Check out their website for more information at: http://www.imagingfoundation.org
There is an upcoming trip to Sulawesi and I think there are still several spots available. This trip is aboard the Aggressor September 23 -30 — so jump on this right away and sign up before the boat is full!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Steve. It sounds fantastic and is definately somethng I would be interested in. Unfortunately the Sulawesi expedition would not give me time to organise and fund. However I will mention it to other photographers I dive with. In the meantime feel free to browse through my flickr.com, youtube.com and blip.tv sites for underwater photos and video. just go to sites and search for waveneyavenue (my online identity) or just google “waveneyavenue”
Clear waters!

Hi Zizo
Glad you enjoyed the diving on Saturday. This is Dave, I was on the boat with you (The DM). Not sure Steve checkes this site too often and even if he did not sure he can help you open a dive centre in Rathlin, he lives in America and probably has no influence in this country, but I suppose if you really want to contact him you could try the http://www.imagingfoundation.org website.
Anyway good luck, finding a job or opening your dive centre. Hope you find this website useful as a resource. Cheers Dave

Hi,
Great site, particularly the marine life footage.
Just wondered if any of your visitors might be interested in our project - Seasearch. It’s a national uk project which trains volunteer divers to record marine life and habitats. You don’t need any experience to take part as all training is provided. We are running a marine life identification course in Portrush on the 1/2nd September. For more info people can contact me on claire.goodwin@gmail.com. Would really appreciate if you could advertise it - we have difficulty reaching independent divers.
Best wishes,
Claire

Thanks for your interest. At present the interest levels don’t really warrent any contributors, but I will keep you in mind, should that change.
You do realise we are based in North Antrim. I am a little curious how you will be able to contribute, living in Canada, although you are most welcome. Perhaps I could change our coverage to include Canada !!
