An encounter with Basking Sharks off Malin Head in May 2010. There were about 7 off them. We were returning from two good dives at The wreck of the William Mannell and Devil’s Cut. By chance we saw the reflection off one of the fins and went to investigate. Great excitement followed and two of us made it into the water to swim with them
Fabulous! We were there the following weekend. No baskers but great diving.
Hope you are well Dave

Nice video I would love to dive with basking sharks or any type of shark (from a cage). Captured some nice footage of myself diving with dolphins off the coast of Tenerife a few months ago, the camera is a pain at the time but having the memory is priceless.
Looks awesome 🙂
Hiya, I am really glad I’ve found this info. Today bloggers publish only about gossips and web and this is actually frustrating. A good web site with exciting content, this is what I need. Thank you for keeping this web site, I will be visiting it. Do you do newsletters? Can not find it.
Sorry no newsletter. Perhaps i should start one. Where are you from, Have you dived in Ireland before?
Dave,
I’m a member of Belfast bsac and few of my friends try to dive as many varied places as possible. Are you a tour operator/dive school or just a recreational?
I’ve been diving for two years now from padi open water to BSAC sports diver but getting bored of the same old usual sites, so pretty interested in your take of the north coast!
Cheers,Nick
Sent you an email Nick
Hi nick
thanks for the comment. I’m not an operator or diveschool, but I have Dm’ed (Dive mastered) for a PADI school on the North Coast based out ot Portstewart They are called aquaholics. Drop my name and they may do you a deal either that or throw you overboard! lol
I have about 8 years diving. Learnt in Australia and have dived extensively around Ireland, Some in Scotland, Egypt, Cyprus, Mexico Any of the sites mentioned on the blog are good.
Really depends on what you are after, Shore Dives, Boat Dives? why not hook up with other BSAC clubs and dive some of their sites? Its a cheaper option than PADI Or some shore dives maybe, which is the cheapest option by far
If you have any specific questions feel free Dave
